JEANINE HATTAS WILSON

CEO & CREATIVE DIRECTOR

"I think public art is just that – the public's art. It should visually represent the community's or individual's vision and pride."

Jeanine founded Hattas Public Murals in 2003, after painting an underwater scene in her friend's bathroom ... and loving it! Since then, she has painted and/or overseen nearly 5,000 commissioned works of art.

Jeanine works directly with each client to create original designs for their artwork. She oversees the artwork's creation from beginning to end, ensuring the process is smooth, professional, and on schedule. The team works together to create works that are accurate and beautiful.

Jeanine started painting at age six, alongside her identical twin sister Julie, in Woodstock, IL. Both girls studied art throughout childhood with private lessons and continued through college. Now in Los Angeles, Jeanine continues to further her education, having studied at the Atelier Artien in Paris, France; Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Art; and under renowned artists such as Robert Liberace, Michael Siegel, and William Cochran.

When she's not painting, Jeanine most enjoys cooking for and hanging out with her family and friends.

Jeanine lives in Los Angeles, CA with her husband Jason and dog Marley.

IAN BURGESS

LEAD ARTIST

"Nature has gone to great lengths to provide artists with subject matter. And as artists, we should go to great lengths when we reflect that nature with art."

Ian has been drawing and painting since he was a child. His art studies began when he was 12 on Catalina Island. He was very fortunate to take lessons with an extraordinary painter named Denise Burns who taught him not to see things but rather to see colors.

One aspect of painting murals Ian truly enjoys is the range of ideas and images he is commissioned to paint. Where one project is recreating Renaissance figures from 500 years ago, the next may be an undersea world of colorful marine life. People & trees, turtles & spaceships... what makes a thing a thing is what he believes makes an artist an artist; the distinct way we each observe and catch the color, render the texture, capture the likeness.

The privilege to make a living as an artist gives Ian a profound sense of fulfillment every day. The only thing he finds more gratifying than doing the artwork is witnessing the joy other people get from seeing it.

When he's not painting, Ian enjoys listening, playing, and composing music; however, these days that usually means figuring out "Old MacDonald Had a Farm" on guitar to play for his two young kids. Also, in his (rare) free time, Ian can be found windsurfing at Cabrillo Beach or backpacking in the Sierra Nevada mountains.

Ian lives in Lakewood with his wife and 2 children.

TONY ARREDONDO

EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT & SCHEDULING COORDINATOR

“The two most important days in your life are the day you’re born and the day you find out why.”

- Mark Twain

Tony comes from serving the general public through owning and operating a cafe and restaurant/bar with his life partner over the last several years. He takes great pride in serving others and helping them accomplish their goals of varying magnitude. Just don’t ask him to draw anything other than a stick figure.

Conversely, he was with The Boeing Co. for 17 years where his detail-oriented skills had him thrive in the accounting and auditing fields before he ventured off into business entrepreneurship.

He was born and raised in SoCal (but is somehow a Chicago Bears fan) and currently resides in Long Beach, CA with his wife Sam and children Karis, Evan, & Julian.

On most sunny California weekends, you can find him playing beach volleyball or enjoying outdoor activities with his kids.

He later attended the Columbus College of Art & Design where he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a concentration in illustration.

IAN KIRKPATRICK

ARTIST

“To be an artist means to be a lifelong student and teacher.  Learning from and teaching each other feeds our creativity and fuels our motivation.”

Ian has been inspired by art since he was a child, watching his father paint abstract and surreal masterful paintings.  Ian remembers always drawing his favorite cartoons when he was a child and created his first painting guided by his father.  The best part of painting to Ian is the tactility of paint on a surface, being able to push around a material to create a beautiful piece of art.

Ian was formally trained at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco and he had the opportunity to be mentored by Eric Joyner while in the Bay Area.  His education grew exponentially from that mentorship, integrating what he learned into his own process of painting.

He finds that being able to tell a story in a single image is the most powerful aspect of being an artist.

After graduating from the Academy with a major in illustration, Ian has worked as a freelance artist in the advertising and publishing industry for over a decade.

He has also worked as a teacher to adults and children, introducing them to the joy of painting.

When he is not drawing or painting Ian is enjoying time with loved ones and friends, cooking, playing video games, bike riding, and reading.

RYAN KLIEBHAN

ART DIRECTOR

"I think a lot of making art is about listening to yourself." -Kiki Smith

Ryan Kliebhan grew up outside of Chicago, Illinois. A creative soul, she enjoyed anything from writing, acting, and visual art most of all.

Ryan pursued her passions and decided to go to Northern Illinois University for 2D art, learning everything from classical figure drawing, to modern animation techniques. She graduated in 2016 with a degree in illustration.

Ryan then took on many freelance opportunities, designing everything from t-shirts to logos for an MLG gaming team. In her free time, she designed characters, environments, and scenarios; coupled with her love of gaming and movies, she decided she wanted to become a concept artist. She decided to move to California to pursue her career in March 2018.

What she enjoys most about being an artist is her ability to tell a story without words.

When not designing, Ryan is at her desk doing personal work, cooking, or playing video games.

DAVID LAWRENCE

LEAD SCULPTOR & ARTIST

“To be an artist is to believe in life.” - Henry Moore

David has always been fascinated by the process of making something tangible out of raw materials and ideas. This fascination has grown with enthusiasm ever since his youth, and throughout school, where David studied art and industrial design. He continues to be inspired by such innovation and creativity well into his working life. “I have been fortunate to work on great projects with curious and talented people. I believe in craftsmanship and aspire to learn and improve with each new creative challenge.”

When people ask David about being an artist, he laughs, “It beats working!”

David likes the outdoors, martial arts, and spending time with his three children.

LINDSAY PILKO

PRODUCTION ARTIST

“Creativity is intelligence having fun.” - Albert Einstein

Lindsay has had a passion for creative expression since the call to arms at age six: a talent show where she sang a song from the latest Disney movie, “The Little Mermaid.” (A song about expanding one’s perspective.)

Her fondest memories go back to being a kid and learning how to sketch and build things with her father. Then going out into the world and finding her favorite things to draw and build out of scrap materials. Throughout her life, Lindsay realized she saw the world in a different light than others, and that art plus exploration equaled the keys to her personal expression.

Lindsay began painting murals in 2014, and made collaboration with local artists the foundation of her work. “While tinkering alone is fun, the great joy of creation comes with working in a group that enjoys it just as much as you do. Every project is a new opportunity to learn and refine your skills, and I’m grateful for art patrons everywhere, always. They support a very important aspect of human exploration and discovery that cuts through the practical and logical scope of existence. I say let’s imagine something new together!”

When she's not painting, Lindsay most enjoys working on her many side projects, reading tarot, and traveling to new worlds with her loved ones.
