MURAL FOR COURTNEY & MATT

Walking into the Young Lady’s Suite is like stepping into a 1930s treasure trove, filled with vintage furniture, antique decor and hand-painted murals. Interior Designer Gwen Sukeena created this Art Nouveau bedroom, inspired by her time in Paris, and her love for Czech painter Alphonse Mucha. Gwen overcame great obstacles creating this room, having lost her home to the 2025 Eaton Fire. Having lost everything, including her original furnishings for this suite, Gwen made the decision to continue moving forward with the room, starting at square one. She spent months reimagining the space, hunting for vintage treasures, and designing custom murals for the room. The result is a beautiful space that is both elegant and inspired.

Hattas Studios collaborated with Gwen to create several hand-painted murals in the bedroom and ensuite. The fireplace has a soft glaze finish in the background, and painted flowers cascading down. Surrounding the room is a hand-painted Mucha-inspired floral border. Around the vintage secretary desk is a painted vine-like frame. And the final touch is a sweet cherry blossom branch in the ensuite bathroom.
